Scott Thompson, Rector
Holy Cross recently called Scott Thompson to lead the congregation as rector of the parish. He celebrated his first Sunday at the church on March 9, 2008. Scott, previously rector of New Life Episcopal Church in Mosinee, Wisconsin, is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. His first love was music and to play the drums as a professional musician in a rock band. He became focused on full-time ministry in his mid-teens and received his BA in Biblical studies from Grace School of Theology in 1986, and a master of theology from the Dallas Theological Seminary in 1991. He received a certificate in Anglican studies from Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary in 1999.
He and his wife Linda and daughter Victoria, 10 recently moved to the Sugar Land area. Scott's other interests include family, music, guitar, reading, film, motorcycles, running and weightlifting, but his passion is the local church and seeing lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

I came to Holy Cross from Memphis, TN as Director of Music and Worship Arts in 2001. I previously developed and led the music ministry of Heartsong UMC in 1998 which was a church plant in suburb Memphis. In 1991 under the leadership of Dr. Maxie Dunnam, I was part of a team commissioned to develop the first contemporary service at Christ United Methodist Church, one of the largest Methodist churches in the country. The success of the 9:45 service led to the development of the first Saturday night Seeker Service in Memphis, quickly growing to 1000 in attendance. I studied music at the University of Memphis and audio engineering through the Recording Institute of America at Ardent Recording Studios in Memphis. I spent many years in the recording industry and am a former RCA Recording Artist, recording engineer, producer and songwriter having contributed to several CD projects over the years. Drew and his wife Lisa have done mission work in Russia.
