Helping Others: By cultivating a servant's heart to help those in need to show God's love to all

Community of Hope Pastoral Care Ministry

Community of Hope is a community of Lay Chaplains serving the congregation and neighbors of Holy Cross by being “present” in a listening, compassionate, non-controlling manner, for the purpose of consciously or unconsciously representing God to them and seeking to respond to their spiritual needs.

Pastoral Care team members are trained “listeners,", listening with the ear of the heart; aware of and pledged to confidentiality.

                               Caring  - Compassionate  - Confidential

Members are prepared by 14 weeks (42 hours) of initial training and continuing education; pledged to regular worship, prayer, and reading the Rule of Benedict; and committed to monthly Circle of Care support meetings. The Pastoral Care Team ministers to the sick, homebound, homeless, troubled, bereaved, distressed, and others as needs arise.

The Community of Hope … “a school for God’s service”

… helping to create Christian communities of volunteer lay chaplains united in prayer, shaped by Benedictine spirituality, and equipped for and serving in pastoral care ministries.
