Attack Poverty

Attack Poverty is a global organization that serves locally, adopting pockets of poverty and launching what we call 'Friends Initiatives'. These initiatives are long-term commitments that require mutual relationships and collaborative efforts with local organizations, churches, residents, and stakeholders committed to community transformation.

The local Attack Poverty organization focuses its efforts in North Richmond/Rosenberg through the Friends of North Richmond initiative.  Holy Cross Social Outreach Ministry participates in an ongoing partnership with Friends of North Richmond, most recently in refurbishment of homes.

Summer Mission 2019

June 10 - 13, 2019

Holy Cross Church partners with Friends of North Richmond each summer in the Summer Mission Program in a variety of different ways:

  1. We work on an assigned home during the weekdays of Summer Mission in the neighborhood doing repairs and refurbishment, including painting, sheetrock repair, flooring, cabinet and countertop installation, and more.

UPDATE:  Our Construction Team has been assigned a house. It will be for the same family we helped in January 2019 that had a fire on New Years night. Her name is Elena A.  Holy Cross has already helped them pass inspection and get the lights turned back on, along with gift cards to Walmart to replace some of the items lost.  The room needs to be rebuilt inside and out and repairs to the main section of the house will need a little work.

  2. We also provide dinner for the entire neighborhood on Mon, Tues, and Wed of Summer Mission Week.

  3. Friends of North Richmond/Attack Poverty hosts community-wide VBS, sports camps, and other activities.

If you are interested in working on the Construction Team, please see Scott McKee or Denise McKee. They may be reached at or, or call 713.249.7388.
