Charitable Giving All Round at the Pumpkin Patch

“It is more blessed to give than to receive”

    Acts 20:35

Notwithstanding the fact that the Pumpkin Patch is a major annual fundraiser for the ministry of Holy Cross Church, all funds collected at the Patch are tithed in order to benefit other ministries and relief agencies beyond Holy Cross.

As it relates to pumpkin sales… Pumpkins USA (located in the Navajo Nation in Farmington, New Mexico) sell their pumpkins on a consignment basis at a ratio of approximately 70/30; 30% for Holy Cross, 70% for them. Of the approximate 30% that Holy Cross receives from total pumpkin sales, a full 10% goes directly to help the efforts of Mission Outreach at Holy Cross. This 10% is a gift above and beyond that which has already been budgeted for Mission Outreach.

As it relates to all the concessions offered by the various ministries that raise funds at the Pumpkin Patch to help them do what they do, they also tithe to ministries and relief agencies beyond Holy Cross Church. They are as follows:

    • Holy Cross Kids Preschool - Samaritan's Purse (International)
    • Holy Cross Men - Free the Captives (Houston)
    • Holy Cross Women - Pregnancy Resource Medical Center (Ft. Bend County)
    • Holy Cross Teens - Lord of the Streets (Houston)
    • Holy Cross Children (Sunday School) - Compassion International

The Pumpkin Patch isn’t just about Holy Cross. It’s about others. And it’s about God, and his glory. Just as we say in our three part motto:

Welcoming All. Transforming Lives. Glorifying God
