We Can’t Wait To Meet You!

What To Expect

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at Holy Cross a great one!

  • Who We Are

    Who We Are

Here's the deal, Holy Cross cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Holy Cross is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.

    Our Purpose

Our purpose is simple: To be disciples of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matt. 28:19 - 20)

    Our Process

Our process is as simple as our purpose: In order to be disciples of Jesus Christ and make disciples of Jesus Christ we commit ourselves and invite others to join us in a simple, 4 step process:

  • Service Time

Holy Cross Church meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

  • Location & Directions

Holy Cross Church is located at 5653 W. Riverpark Dr., near the intersection of W. Riverpark and Hwy. 99, in Sugar Land, TX 77479. Get directions below.

  • How long is a Holy Cross service?

In total, a Holy Cross service is about 90 minutes in length. We follow the liturgy for Holy Eucharist Rite Two as outlined in the Book of Common Prayer. Everything you need to know is projected on the screens so you can participate in whatever way you choose. The service begins with the Holy Cross worship band leading the church in music - you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. Children and youth are then dismissed for age-specific teaching while adults hear the reading of the Word and an encouraging message from our rector, Fr. Scott Thompson. Children and youth return to their families to celebrate and receive the Communion together.

  • What's the culture like at Holy Cross?

Sundays at Holy Cross are casual, warm and relaxed. Come as you are, dress comfortably, and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

  • What about my kids?

We believe that kids should have a great time learning about Jesus' love for them every single week - and Holy Cross Children and Holy Cross Youth make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our Holy Cross Children's program the first time that you visit.

You’ll want to give yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in for the Holy Cross Children experience (or pre-register when you tell us you're coming). Holy Cross Children is offered every Sunday for kids birth through Grade 5. Holy Cross Youth for tweens and teens in 6th - 12th grade meets at the same time.

  • What do I do when I arrive?

After parking, follow the walkway into the main doors of the building. You can expect that someone will meet you at the door and welcome you to Holy Cross. As you enter the building, you'll see the welcome desk immediately in front of you. Step up and let us make a name tag for you. Don't worry! We all wear one - you won't be singled out in any way. If you choose not to complete the form to let us know you're visiting, we'd love to have you take a minute or two to share your information on the tablet to the right of the welcome desk. We promise not to spam or harass you! Our friendly welcome team will provide you with a handy brochure that will answer any basic questions you may have (like "Where's the restroom?") and will direct you to our worship space where you can follow the prompts on the screens throughout the service.

  • What happens after worship?

You're invited to stay after worship for coffee, lemonade, and doughnuts, along with plenty of friendly conversation. And don't forget to stop by the welcome desk on your way out for a thank you gift from Holy Cross!

Our Purpose

Our purpose is simple: to be disciples of Jesus Christ and to make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19 - 20)

Worship God Regularly

To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to do what Jesus did. Jesus worshipped God every week. As disciples of Jesus, we do the same. We gather together each Lord’s Day to worship, pray, hear God’s Word, and receive grace in the sacraments. Worshipping regularly isn’t easy, but discipleship calls us to something more. So, as a first level commitment, we commit to gathering each Lord’s Day to worship.

Grow Together Faithfully

We believe disciples of Jesus grow best in community, not just in Sunday worship but through regular life together in small groups. Small groups help us move from simply sitting side by side to truly seeing and knowing one another. Scripture calls us to actively love, encourage, serve, be patient with, honor, and build one another up. Small groups create the ideal space for this mutual, face-to-face discipleship to happen in everyday life.

Serve Others Lovingly

As disciples of Jesus, we not only worship and grow in small groups, but also serve others on ministry teams, because Jesus taught that loving service is the true mark of a genuine disciple. Serving others helps us move from being spiritual consumers to active contributors who truly live as the church. Following Jesus means imitating His life, and becoming the message we share through a life of humble service to others.

Mature in Christ Continuously

Maturing in Christ is a continual process of faithfully engaging in worship, small groups, and service, growing more and more in Him each day. Never fully completed, spiritual maturity is an ongoing transformation in Christ, where the more we invest in our faith, the more we grow. God designed spiritual growth to happen in community, and at Holy Cross we are committed to helping every believer grow and mature in Christ together.
